I love the challenge of being creative on-demand. I love getting to work with new people in new places all the time. I love having the opportunity to enter in to people's lives during some of their most emotional and beautiful moments. I love it when I can capture the essence of someone's personality or relationship in a photograph - I crave photographs that will make people cry because they can really feel something when they look at them. (the one time it’s totally a good thing to make someone else cry ;) I love being able to help an organization to tell the story of how they’re working to help others, so they can continue to do more. I love capturing a wedding or family in a way that makes them feel beautiful, honestly tells their story, and will remind them of this moment in their life for the rest of their days. I love getting to know my clients over the course of time – especially when I can be there to see them grow as a couple, into a family.

What do you hate most about your job? Sitting alone at a computer all day and all night! bleh. 80-90% of my job is sitting on my computer, making decisions. I don't particularly enjoy either. I'm an extrovert, so it's totally dull for me to be alone with a monitor. And I'm a perfectionist, so making decisions constantly (whether it's during editing, or responding to emails, or planning for my business) just stresses me out. The good definitely out-weighs the bad with this job though!

Where do you find inspiration? In new places & experiences. I tend to look at things with more wonder and awe when they aren’t familiar to me.

In people. I love to hear people’s stories and get to know who they really are. I’m particularly inspired by people who are doing great things with their lives – people who are loving well and giving generously.

God. I am blown away by God's creativity - whether it's in how people are all so different and amazing, or the beauty of nature, or how He works in people's lives. I believe there's no great source of inspiration.

Aside from photography, do you have other creative outlets? I *love* to sing! I sing in the worship band at my church, and at karaoke every single Wednesday night. Not to mention all day long while I'm working, driving, walking, whatever J

When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up? Everything. A nurse, so I could take care of people. A teacher, so I could tell people what to do. A lawyer, so I could argue my point all day. A psychologist, so I could figure people out. An astronaut, so I could go to outer space. An Olympic Synchronized Swimmer – seriously. And Whitney Houston’s back-up singer. Come on, she was awesome back in the day!

If you could go on a trip where would that be and what would you hope to do there? Um, I pretty much want to go EVERYWHERE, to photograph everything! Rome, Kenya, Uganda, France, Thailand, Fiji and Australia are the first that come to mind…

What are your pet peeves or interesting things about you that you dislike? I’m basically the pickiest eater ever. Ok, my nephew is pickier, but I’m still pretty bad.

And I’m sure Matt Grazier would be sad if I didn’t mention that I love Coca-Cola – you won’t often see me without one in my hand!
