One of my favorite photographers, Catherine Wagner, is a masters of the interior landscape. Her work is portraits without people.I love losing time in her images and uncovering the personalities inherent in the arrangement of objects, in people’s choices of the materials things they collect to adorn their physical spaces. There is an immediacy in our judgements based on things. It might be part of my fascination with open houses - you can project, infer, classify the person or the families who live there. They are not physically present but they are still very present.
What do your material object choices say about you? Do you find yourself making these interior landscapes when you shoot on location?
Another example of this is the series You Are What You Eat by Mark Menjivar.
