"Being passionate about your career doesn’t mean it’s not hard. In fact, I think sometimes because of all the heart and soul that goes into what we photographers do, it often means that the hard days feel even harder. What you don’t see when you scroll through my Instagram of amazing trips and beautiful people are the days spent staring at a computer screen questioning whether or not I’m any good. Instagram doesn’t show the days spent staring at a cashflow spreadsheet wondering “Will it work? Will we make it this year?”

By now, I imagine most people have probably heard about the phrase “finding your tribe.” If not, a quick Google search should solve it for you (particularly if you add Seth Godin before or after that phrase). Essentially “finding your tribe” is the idea of there being a group of people that you connect with, that understand you and in some ways (my own liberty being taken on the definition here) that protect you. Your tribe is different than your family or your friends too. My tribe is almost like a sanctuary away from all of those other groups and for the last 3 years, my tribe has been found somewhere in the wintery land of New England..."
